Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the US. She is a Greek-American writer, syndicated journalist and a businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post the founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a journalist, television personality, philanthropist as well as the owner and editor of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece, Arianna Huffington moved to England with her family when she was 16 years old. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. First foreign-born graduate to be elected president of the highly regarded debate group The Cambridge Union, at age 21 she took over the presidency. Her popularity as a columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she graduated. After the launch of The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered an honest assessment of the current state of the nation's politics. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of celebrities to contribute their opinion regarding current affairs, the political and culture. Arianna became famous after she decided to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall election to succeed the former governor Davis. Alongside this she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes listed her as the top female in the media industry in 2009. Her ranking was in the 12th spot on Forbes' listing. The Guardian also included her to the list of top 100 media outlets in the year 2009. In 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her the head of the media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close friendship with her mother and father and father, it was their relationship which shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities even in her early years. She moved to England at 16, to pursue her education and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society during her time at college, where she was the third female to hold the position of president. In 1972 she received a degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a critic for a newspaper column and a television host. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She started writing books, taking his help to edit.
